Loulé pharmacies will administer the flu vaccine free of charge to the municipality's vulnerable population, under a partnership between the City Council, the Ministry of Health and the National Association of Pharmacies «which will make it possible to strengthen the seasonal flu vaccination network », announced the Loulé autarchy.
In practice, this means that the “Local SNS Vaccination” program is back in this municipality.
The pharmacies that this year will be associated with the “Local SNS Vaccination” Program, in the municipality of Loulé, are: in Quarteira – Farmácia Algarve, Farmácia Miguel Calçada and Farmácia Maria Paula; in Almancil – Almancil Pharmacy, Nobre Passos Pharmacy and Silveira Algarve Pharmacy; in Loulé – Avenida Pharmacy, Chagas Pharmacy, Pinto Pharmacy and Martins Pharmacy; as well as Pharmacies: Cruz Ramos (in Boliqueime), Horta Figueiredo (in Alte), Silva (in Vilamoura), and Sousa Rodrigues (in Benafim).
«The Municipality of Loulé acquired the doses of this vaccine that will now be distributed by the county's pharmacies and there administered to the population covered by the free service. From the outset, people aged 65 years or over, but also pregnant, a population under 65 years of age and with chronic or immunodepressed pathologies, in addition to other conditions defined by the General Directorate of Health as eligible", summarizes the municipality .
The option to take the vaccine to a pharmacy «will become an alternative to local health units and the Vaccination Center, now operating in the Loulé Ballroom, next to the Municipal Stadium, where the 3rd dose of the vaccine against Covid- 19 is being given concurrently with the flu vaccine'.
This participation of pharmacies in the seasonal flu vaccination process “will make it possible to provide a more effective response to the population thanks to the increase in the number of places and times available, in addition to guaranteeing a proximity service as there is, in general, a relationship of trust between the user and their pharmacist».
