Secretary of State for Fisheries visits works in Alcoutim, Olhão, Ria de Alvor and Lagos

A protocol will be signed between Docapesca and the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Mértola and Vila Real de Santo António

Teresa Coelho, Secretary of State for Fisheries, will visit, today and tomorrow, the 9th and 10th of November, several intervention points in the Algarve region.

The visit will start this Tuesday, the 9th, at 18 pm, with the signing of the collaboration protocol, between Docapesca and the municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Mértola and Vila Real de Santo António, for the identification of infrastructure rivers with potential for sustainable dynamization of the navigable waterway of the Guadiana river. The ceremony will take place at the Municipality of Alcoutim.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the 10th, the Secretary of State for Fisheries will visit the support park for shipowners, in the fishing port of Lagos, at 10:00 am. The intervention represents an investment of 230 thousand euros and aimed to improve the operations of collection, repair and packaging of fishing nets and gear by shipowners.

Two hours later, at midday, there will be a visit to the restoration work on the Espargueira Dike, located in Vale da Lama (Alvor), in the municipality of Portimão.

This structure, which is within the jurisdiction of Docapesca, was recently rehabilitated to protect against flooding and to regulate the flooding of adjacent areas and to protect the ecosystem in the area, which is rich in avifauna. The intervention represented an investment of around 130 thousand euros.

Then, at 16 pm, Teresa Coelho will visit the rehabilitation work of the unloading dock at the fishing port of Olhão. This rehabilitation work represents an investment of 00 thousand euros and aims to improve operational and safety conditions for all those involved in the activity of unloading fish, as well as protecting the mooring of fishing vessels.
