Restaurant Gigi is 30 meters away from the sea, but will reopen with news

Novo Gigi will reopen next March, with improvements and a big news

The Gigi restaurant, on Quinta do Lago beach, is undergoing an intervention that was already foreseen in the Vilamoura-Vila Real de Santo António Coastal Development Plan (POOC), a plan managed by the APA – Associação Portuguesa do Ambiente, which will involve your relocation to the north.

Thus, the restaurant, which is part of the Quinta do Lago resort, will be relocated 30 meters to the north, leaving «the primary dune of the beach», where it was built, and which «will later be restored with native plants».

The works, which began with the demolition of the previous structure, began this November and should end in March of next year, "for a major reopening", in time for Easter.

Despite the change of location, which distances the restaurant 30 meters from the sea, it will maintain «the same panoramic views over the Ria Formosa, which its customers are already used to».

Quinta do Lago explains that, «since its inception it has maintained the commitment to its initial masterplan», as well as «respecting the natural environment in which it operates – Ria Formosa Natural Park», therefore, «taking into account its sustainability plan and preservation of the environment, will relocate the Gigi restaurant within 30 meters».

But the works even allow improvements to be made to "the entire infrastructure of the Gigi Restaurant", which will maintain "the original design and the already known charisma".

Improvements include the creation of a bathroom for people with reduced mobility, which did not exist before, beach facilities, solar panels for water heating, increased terrace capacity, enlarged and improved kitchen, support facilities for the swimmer -salvator and a First Aid post.

There will also be a «great news: a relaxing bar, which invites you to authentic moments, reconnecting with nature, accompanied by the best cocktails overlooking the Atlantic and that promises the best sunsets in the Algarve».

In addition, the “Gigi” restaurant «will continue to serve with excellence the best fresh fish and seafood (and also its secret recipes!) as well as the atmosphere on the popular terrace».

The works and construction permits are in charge of the Quinta do Lago group, owner of the space, in which Bernardo Reino has been operating the infrastructure for 37 years – giving the name to the most famous house in the Algarve.

“The Gigi restaurant is an unrivaled partner of the resort and has done much to promote the Quinta do Lago destination within Portuguese society and internationally,” adds the resort.

The restoration project was created by the Creative Essence Architecture Office, under the responsibility of architects Jenny Marcos and Ricardo Galego Silva.

Quinta do Lago is the Algarve's largest luxury resort, offering 'an unrivaled lifestyle experience', including 13 restaurants and bars, including Casa Velha, Bovino Steakhouse, Casa do Lago, UMAMI, Dano's, Pure, The Shack and KOKO. Acclaimed worldwide golf destination as well as a sporting destination with High Performance Internship Center – The Campus, and Boutique Hotel The Magnolia.
