President of the Republic goes to Albufeira to close the National Congress of Hotels and Tourism

Minister Pedro Siza Vieira and Secretary of State Rita Marques will also be present at the event.

The President of the Republic will close the National Congress of Hotels and Tourism, which will take place at the NAU Salgados Palace, in Albufeira, between the 10th and 12th of November. Pedro Siza Vieira, Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition will also be at the event, but at the opening.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will be the last speaker of the day, on the 12th of November, a Friday, closing a closing panel of the congress that will also feature interventions by Raul Martins, president of AHP, who will take stock of the 2 days of works, and Rita Marques, Secretary of State for Tourism.

One of the sector's current hot topics will be debated on the 1st day of work, November 11, at the panel “The importance of air accessibility in the recovery of tourism in Portugal”. Moderated by Rosália Amorim, director of Diário de Notícias, this panel includes interventions by Christine Ourmières-Widener, Executive Director of TAP Portugal, Thierry Ligonnière, Executive Director of ANA Aeroportos and José Lopes, Director for Portugal at Easyjet.

In the afternoon, there will be a plenary session focused on “The Financing of Hotel Companies”. “What instruments and vehicles are there or are being designed? To which recipients? By whom and how will they be mobilized? What articulation between the public and private sectors?” are some of the questions on the table.
Jorge Marrão, partner at Deloitte, will lead this session, which will have as guests Beatriz Freitas, executive director of Banco Português de Fomento, Javier Arús, Managing Partner – AZORA Group Hotels and João Veiga Anjos, head of Corporate Investment Bank Santander.

The 3 parallel sessions are another new feature of this Congress. Besides the already announced session on "Human Capital", there will be the session “Digitalization of hotel companies”, moderated by Duarte d'Eça Leal, founder of The Independente Collective, REBEL & Convex Capital, and featuring interventions by John Antunes, executive director of SANA Hotels, Teresa Barros, founder and executive director of Xpose, Ricardo Valente, councilor for economy, tourism and commerce at the Porto City Council and Miguel Barbosa, director of tourism investments at Portugal Ventures.

The last session is on “Business sustainability and corporate responsibility”: “Built back better” as an opportunity for companies to capture the benefits of adopting the [increasingly unavoidable] ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) framework.

How to Live Aligned with keynote speaker, was invited by Margarida Couto, partner at Vieira de Almeida & Associados and president of GRACE – Empresas Responsáveis. The roundtable will be attended by Rebeca Ávila, VP of Communication & Corporate Social Responsibility for Southern Europe of the Accor Group, Leonor Picão, coordinating director of the Valorization of the Offer of Tourism in Portugal and Eduardo Moura, deputy director of Sustainability at EDP.

The moderation is in charge of Cristina Siza Vieira, Executive Vice President of AHP.
