Lagoa celebrates the International Day of the Educating City with a week of activities

Ephemeris marks the 30th of November

Lagoa will commemorate the 2021 International Day of Educating Cities, which is marked on November 30th, with several initiatives that will start this Saturday, 20th, among them a cycle of conferences, lectures or a commemorative show “Heritage & Identity”.

The celebrations begin this Saturday, 20 November, with the cycle of conferences “Ferragudo 1520-2020: 500 years of living the sea”, starting at 14:30 pm, in Ferragudo.

From the 22nd to the 26th of November, the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ) of Lagoa and the City Council, through the project “Know your rights”, will mark the International Day for the Rights of the Child with a visit to the schools of the county.

On the 26th and 27th, the Teia D'Impulsos Association, in partnership with the municipality and the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, will hold the 2nd Congress “Sport for All” at the Hotel Tivoli Carvoeiro.

There will also be room for a commemorative show “Heritage & Identity”, on November 27, at 21 pm, in the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, as part of the celebrations of the 30 International Day of Educating Cities.

The show is free of charge upon collection of the ticket at the Carlos do Carmo auditorium.

This show will take to the stage «some of the artistic proposals that were present in the 2021 edition of the Performative Paths in Heritage, presenting initiatives in the area of ​​dance, music, theater, poetry, among others.

The municipality of Lagoa is an educating city that, in 2018, formalized its process of joining the AICE - International Association of Educating Cities, but «has been weaving in its territory for several decades, a network of local relationships invested with an attitude and educators perspective», says the municipality.

“The Educating City leaves no one behind” was the motto chosen for this edition, being important “the participation of all in the integration of the principles in the day-to-day, thus promoting equal opportunities, inclusion, social progress and sustainable growth”, he concludes.
