75-year-old Englishman found dead in Lagos Marina

Victim lived for several years on a sailboat

An English man, aged around 75, was found dead this Sunday morning in the Marina de Lagos. The victim, who had been living for several years on a sailboat, which was moored there, felt ill and fell into the water. Death was declared on the spot.

Pedro da Palma, Captain of the Port of Lagos, advanced to the Sul Informação that the victim, "who resided in a sailboat", may have "feeled sick and fell into the water", suspecting "sudden death".

Even so, explained the responsible, "only the autopsy will be able to clarify the causes".

According to the District Relief Operations Command, the alert was given at 9:53 am, resuscitation maneuvers were attempted, but death was eventually declared on the spot by the INEM VMER doctor.

Pedro da Palma believes that the death will not have occurred long before the warning was given.

“Due to the state of his body, he wasn't in the water for a long time. It could have been early in the morning,” he explained.

In the relief operations, operational workers from the Fire Department of Lagos, INEM and the Maritime Police were involved.
