Civil Service Strike closes schools and conditions hospitals in the Algarve

Schools closed, services in conditioned City Councils and hospitals as well. The Civil Service strike, which takes place this Friday, 12 November, is having "very strong adhesion" in the Algarve. 

Ao Sul Informação, Vítor Cunha, from the Union of Workers in Public and Social Functions in the South and in the Autonomous Regions, provided some data already collected.

The Hospital de Portimão, for example, has «79% adhesion to the strike». In Faro, the numbers are not yet known, but they should be around that percentage.

In the City Councils, the strike is also “having a good adhesion”.

According to Bruno Luz, from the National Union of Workers in Local and Regional Administration (STAL), the municipalities of VRSA, Tavira, Faro and Olhão are "conditioned, with a participation of 50%, on the part of the workers".

This stoppage was called by the Frente Comum, affects the CGTP. At issue is the demand for increases of 90 euros for all workers, as well as raising the minimum wage to 850 euros.
