Francisco Amaral, president of the Castro Marim City Council, is Rui Rio's district representative, in the race for the national leadership of the Social Democrats. The renowned mayor had already been president of Rio in previous PSD elections.
The current deputy Rui Cristina, also president of the Municipality of Loulé of the PSD and vice president of the PSD at regional level, is the regional campaign director for the candidacy.
Among the supporters of Rio in the Algarve, stand out Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Municipal Council of Faro, David Santos, until recently president of the PSD/Algarve, Filomena Sintra, vice-president of the Chamber of Castro Marim, Álvaro Viegas, councilor without portfolios in the Chamber of Olhão, president of the general assembly of ACRAL and ATA and also president of Delegation of Olhão from the Portuguese Bar Association, Dinis Faísca, councilor without portfolios in the Chamber of Tavira, Marcos Guia, Jorge Corvo, among other personalities of the Algarve PSD.
In a message he sent to social-democratic militants in the region, Francisco Amaral, as president of Rui Rio's candidacy in the Algarve, called for “his vote to elect a serious, credible, reliable person, with proven evidence and better placed to win the next legislative elections of January 30, 2021».
Elections for the PSD presidency, which pit current leader Rui Rio against MEP Paulo Rangel, will take place on Saturday, November 27th, while the Congress will take place between December 17th and 19th.
