Organ Festival joins Lídia Jorge's prose to Célia Tavares' music in Boliqueime

Algarvian writer will read a chronicle related to the historical organ of the Parish Church of Boliqueime

The sound of the organ of the Parish Church of Boliqueime, played by Célia Sousa Tavares, and a chronicle by Lídia Jorge, an illustrious daughter of the land, read by herself, will continue the Algarve Organ Festival, on Friday, the 12th , at 21 pm, in this town in the municipality of Loulé.

This year, Música XXI, which organizes the festival, decided to challenge Lídia Jorge, the greatest name in Portuguese literature, to recite a text related to the historical organ of Boliqueime, a place from which she was born and to which she has always maintained her connection. .

The Algarve writer accepted the challenge and will read, before the concert, "her chronicle of Maria Inácia who saved the Boliqueime Organ, an emotional testimony that recalls the history of the Parish Church of Boliqueime," according to Música XXI.

After this literary moment, Célia Sousa Tavares enters the scene to star in a concert «where the music of Zipoli, Gabrieli, Arauxo, Buxtehude, Pachelbel, Seixas and Corrette stands out».

On Saturday, November 13, Célia Sousa Tavares returns to work, this time at Igreja do Carmo, in Faro.

«Battles, ensaladas, toccatas, tientos, preludes, concerts and sonatas by Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German and French composers are the proposal for that night», according to the festival's organizers.

The concerts are free and Boliqueime's concerts will be broadcast online.

Célia Sousa Tavares completed the Organ course with Rui Paiva at the Music School of the National Conservatory. He graduated in Organ at the Lisbon Superior School of Music with João Vaz. He completed his Masters in Historical Interpretation at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen in Germany, studying with Harald Vogel, Hans Davidsson and Edouardo Bellotti. She was a guest student at the Eastman School of Music in the USA. In 2017, he completed his Masters in Music Teaching with João Vaz at the Lisbon Superior School of Music.

At the invitation of Instituto Camões and the Consulate, he held a recital at Manchester Cathedral during the celebrations on June 10, 2018. Under the auspices of Tourism of the Patriarchate of Lisbon/Signinum, between 2017 and 2020, the Lunchtime Recitals project at Igreja da Conceição Velha . She is full organist at the Church of S. Sebastião da Pedreira in Lisbon and professor of Organ at Colégio S. João de Brito.

Organized by Associação Música XXI, the 2021 Algarve Organ Festival has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Municipalities of Faro, Loulé, Portimão and Tavira, with support for the dissemination of the Algarve Tourism Region and communication partners Antena 2, Sul Informação and FM Street.
