Public discussion to classify Lagoa dos Salgados as a Nature Reserve has already been published in DR

Lagoa dos Salgados is one of the places in the country where you can observe a greater number of species of water birds from a fixed point, such as flamingos, spoonbills, red herons or mosquitoes

The process that will allow the opening of the public discussion period for classification of the Lagoa dos Salgados Natural Reserve, in the municipalities of Silves and Albufeira, was published this Tuesday, November 23, in Diário da República. 

The discussion period will start “10 working days after the publication date”, ie the 6th of December, a Monday.

Contributions may be given for 30 working days.

During the period of public discussion, the documents that make up the process relating to this proposed classification can be consulted from the ICNF portal and Participate portal.

The documents provided can be consulted in person during normal office hours at ICNF's central services, in Lisbon, and at the Regional Directorate for Nature Conservation and Forests of the Algarve, at the Environmental Education Center in Marim, Quelfes, Olhão.

Due to Covid-19, face-to-face service will be made by prior appointment to the email address [email protected].

During the period of public discussion, interested parties may present their observations and suggestions directly on the Participa portal, or by email to [email protected] or by postal mail addressed to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICNF, to the address of the ICNF headquarters, at Avenida da República, no. 16, in Lisbon (1050-191), by filling in the participation form (which can be downloaded here), until the end of the consultation.
