An entourage made up of about three hundred people and dozens of bikers of the Motoclub of Faro and Moto Malta Faro accompanied Rogério Bacalhau, mayor of Faro, on his trip to Lisbon this Sunday, November 21, for the delivery of the “Bidbook” at the Ministry of Culture.

The group also included the Folklorico de Faro, the Coral Ossónoba group, the Philharmonic Band of Faro and the group Urban Xpresione, who performed during the ceremony.

The application of Faro the European Capital of Culture «has been widely participated and many groups and associations have been collaborating in the process and have wanted to join the delegation», namely Associação Doina Algarve, Associação Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, Association for the Protection of Girls and to the Family, Reffod and Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense.

In a festive spirit, «all the people in the delegation applauded the arrival of the “Bidbook” and formed a human cord, and the Candidacy Book passed through the hands of each one of those present until it reached Rogério Bacalhau to be delivered to the Ministry of Culture” , says the Faro local authority.

After that, the president thanked everyone for their presence and recalled that «the delivery of the candidacy of Faro the Capital Europe 2027 represents an important milestone in a project of all and for all».

«A mobilizing project, carried out with a lot of work and dedication, which confirms the potential of culture as an important tool for economic and social development in the region. For all that, and for the commitment and involvement of the entire population in our candidacy, we have reason to celebrate today. We are already winners».

After the ceremony, Faro2027 took 45 children, supported by Associação Doina (Mudaki Project) and by the Association for the Protection of Girls and Family, to the MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, in a partnership that «intends to affirm us as an inclusive candidacy, where everyone has access to culture”, concludes the municipality.
