City Council of São Brás de Alportel already has responsibilities assigned

PSD suggests that the money that was spent, in the last term, for the 4th councilor of the PS, which the socialists lost in the recent elections, be used to invest in the municipality

The Chamber of São Brás de Alportel has already distributed the responsibilities to its executive for the term until 2025.

Vitor Guerreiro, Mayor, will continue to be responsible for coordinating and deciding on Strategic Planning and Spatial Planning, Economic Development, Civil Protection, Safety, Health, Education, Culture, Environment and Green Spaces, General Administration and Finance, Management of the Municipal Heritage, Human Resources, Municipal Representation.

In this new mandate, the São Brasense mayor will also assume the responsibility of Animal Welfare, Biodiversity and Forests and will also have a new area: Climate Change.

Councilwoman Marlene Guerreiro, appointed vice-president, was again assigned the responsibilities of Social Action, Housing, Heritage and Toponymy, Youth, Entrepreneurship, Commerce and Economic Activities, Municipal Market, Fairs and Markets, Equality, Citizenship and Participation, Consumer Protection , Communication and Information and External Cooperation.

In her new term, Marlene Guerreiro also takes on the areas of Agriculture, Legal Affairs and Administrative Modernization.

Councilor Acácio Martins was assigned the following areas of responsibility: Sports, Urban Planning and Licensing, Urban Renovation, Public Works and Infrastructure, Mobility and Accessibility, Municipal Road Network, Signaling and Traffic, Transport, Municipal Workshops and Vehicles.

The councilor also assumes, in this mandate, the areas of Energy and Public Lighting, Sanitation Network, Water Supply and Water Efficiency Network and Information and Communication Systems.

The Chamber meetings continue to be all public and will be held every fortnight, always on Tuesdays, at 14:30 pm, in the Salão Nobre da Câmara Municipal.

The executive from São Brás de Alportel has three full-time councilors, elected by the PS, and two non-permanent, without portfolios, from the PSD (Bruno Sousa Costa and Sílvia Revés).

For the rest, the Social Democrats presented an explanation of vote, in a council meeting, where they suggested that the money that was spent, in the last term, for the 4th councilor of the PS, which the Socialists lost in the recent elections, be used for «investment for the municipality'.

The PSD defends that these 40 euros per year be used to «concrete a possible reduction in taxes such as the IRS, where São Brasenses pay the maximum rate, or the IMI, which has the maximum rate in the Algarve, excluding the municipalities covered by the PAEL, or to reinforce certain support for associations in the municipality or even to encourage the advancement of levels of workers in the City Council».
