Associação Algarvia marks the International Day of People with Disabilities with Enculturser

Event will take place at IPDJ, in Faro

The Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Diminished Children (AAPACDM) will mark the International Day of People with Disabilities, December 3, with the Enculturser, an event that will take place at the IPDJ, in Faro and that will reflect on Art and Culture as instruments of social inclusion.

According to Associação Algarvia, «EnculturSer is part of a project supported by the INR (National Institute of Rehabilitation) that aims to promote social inclusion and education for citizenship. Through painting, music, theater and dance, we intend to promote the expressive abilities of our young people, enriching their repertoire of experiences and knowledge».

The event starts with a show, at the IPDJ of Faro, at 10:30. There will be a musical moment, "in which our young people will interpret some music they like", followed by a choreography, "where contemporary dance takes over the bodies of our dancers", and, to close, there will be a staging of the Big Show CAO, «with illustrious artists from various areas of the television world and from the imagination of all of us».

This will be, according to AAPACDM, "the high point of the project", with the "presentation of this work to the community".

In the afternoon, there will be a debate that will focus on culture and art as a vehicle for inclusion.

The opening will be in charge of Jorge Leitão, president of the Algarvia Association, Adriana Nogueira, regional director of Culture of the Algarve and Margarida Flores, district director of the Social Security Institute.

A round table with the title “Culture and Art as a vehicle of Inclusion” is also scheduled, moderated by Anabela Afonso, head of the division of the Cultural Promotion and Dynamization Division.

To debate this theme, will be present Catarina Bernardino, Theater teacher, Cátia Valente, Music teacher, Jaqueline Onofre, plastic artist and Maria Ramos, Dance teacher.

The Crinabel Theater group will also join the conversation via videoconference.

The event ends a Painting Exhibition with the theme “Color” «where these blend harmoniously into various canvases, made by our artists».
