The Algarve's Ricardo Teodósio was crowned, this Saturday, two-time national rally champion, by conquering the second position in the last competition of the Portuguese Championship, the Mortágua Rally.

At the start, to secure the title, the Algarve driver, at the wheel of a Skoda Fabia R5 EVO, needed to win the rally and hope that Armindo Araújo didn't get a place in the top four.

However, right in the first special, Araújo went off the track, which forced his abandonment.

In this scenario, the situation improved for Ricardo Teodósio and for his navigator José Teixeira, who now needed “only” to conquer the second position in the Mortágua Rally, to guarantee the champion title.

However, the task was far from easy.

During the morning, the Algarvian had problems with the gearbox, lost a lot of time and the climb to second place in the classification happened only after the last Special Classification Test (PEC), where he was the fastest.

The result allowed him to overtake Miguel Correia in the vice-leadership.

The Mortágua Rally was won by the duo Bruno Magalhães and Carlos Magalhães, at the wheel of a Hyundai I20 Rally 2.
