São Brás raises awareness about cancer prevention in a "Pink October"

The Portuguese League Against Cancer's National Pediatrics takes place in the county between October 29th and November 1st

The “Outubro Rosa” campaign of the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) is being promoted all over the country and the municipality of São Brás de Alportel is joined by the pink lighting of the Paços do Municipality and the sculpture “Liberdade”, as well as several awareness actions.

In October, the municipality of São Brás de Alportel marks this campaign in order to «raise awareness of the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of this pathology, through screenings, disseminating information and forms of support for women and families», begins by saying the São Brasense autarchy.

As part of this campaign, between the 29th of October and the 1st of November, there will be a National Pediatory of the Portuguese League against Cancer, which will have the support of the municipality.

All those interested in collaborating must register at the City Hall building, at the Municipal Office or at the City Council Support Office, or by e-mail [email protected]. Upon registration, interested parties must indicate the day/s and period/s in which they are available to participate.

The Parish of São Brás de Alportel also joined this cause, by lighting the building, taking a walk and raising awareness.

During the month of September, the municipality also joined the #Sepembrorubro campaign, which aims to raise awareness of blood cancers. In this context, the Paços do Concelho building and the “Liberdade” Sculpture were illuminated in shades of red.

This initiative is promoted by the Association for Support of Patients with Leukemia and Lymphoma (ADL), Portuguese Association Against Leukemia (APCL), Portuguese Association of Leukemia and Lymphoma (APLL) and Portuguese Society of Hematology (SPH), in partnership with Janssen .
