Portimão hangs t-shirts on an “Equitable Hanger”

T-shirts will be on display until November 5th

Portimão exhibits until the 5th of November, in Jardim 1º de Dezembro and in the outer space of the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, one hundred and a half of t-shirts in the “Extendal for Equality”, decorated in the eyes and hands of children, young people and younger people who accepted the challenge.

This artistic installation, which aims to break down barriers and stereotypes, represents «another sign of citizenship and education for gender equality and constitutes a strong alert for the existence of a collective conscience that emphasizes the importance that all people, regardless of gender , should be treated equally, with the same rights and opportunities'.

The Senior Social Centers of Portimão and Aldeia das Sobreiras, the Community Centers of Bairros do Pontal, Coca Maravilhas and Cruz da Parteira, the Algarve Food Bank, the Shotokan Karate School Portimão, the Lar da Child from Portimão, the Poeta António Aleixo School Group – Pontal School Centre, the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School and the University of Algarve – Portimão Hub, in addition to some anonymous ones.

 

 

Until the 5th of November, those who wish to add their voice to this movement for gender equality may also post their t-shirt in the “Clothesline for Equality”.

"Gender-based inequalities and discrimination are still frequent and persistent today, both in the public and private domains, affecting not only women, but also men, in different ways and in all social domains, from politics to the economy. , through work, personal and family factors», says the Portimão Council.

In order to alert society to these issues, the municipality promoted, between 24 and 29 October, the "Week for Equality", during which it carried out several activities to raise awareness of gender equality and social inclusion, including the presentation of various projects councils linked to this very pertinent issue.
