Faro there will be a Theater Festival for (and with) Children and Youth

Launch takes place on October 28th with a concert by Noiserv

The first edition of the Theater Festival for Children and Youth, a new project by the LAMA Teatro company, will bring 11 shows to five cultural spaces and outdoor venues in Faro, between the 4th and the 14th of November.

The Festival launches on October 22, at 21 pm, with an exclusive concert by Noiserv.

The event will integrate projects from renowned national companies and creators, such as Teatro Praga, UMCOLETIVO, Madalena Victorino and Bestiário, as well as youth theater plays.

On November 4, at Teatro das Figuras, the festival kicks off with the show Romeo & Julieta, a creation of Teatro Praga, based on Shakespeare's classic, «where Cláudia Jardim and Diogo Bento guide spectators through history of a damned love, mixing it with the confection of a cheesecake, in real time», according to LAMA Teatro.

Also at Teatro das Figuras, it will be possible to watch the Shakespeare Parliament, by the Bestiário company, on 10 November, "a show where a parliament, in convulsion, debates whether an innocent lie also hurts".

On the 6th and 7th of November, the Municipal Museum of Faro receives A Grande Viagem do Pequeno Mi, a show by Madalena Victorino, in co-creation with Ana Raquel and Beatriz Marques Dias, about the power of imagination, inspired by the book by Sandro William Junqueira.

On the 5th of November, Escuridão Bonita, by UMCOLETIVO, a creation by Cátia Terrinca and João P. Nunes, based on a story by Ondjaki, as well as Romeu and Romeu, a piece by LAMA, will be presented at LAMA Black Box. Theater that closes the Festival, on November 14th.

The latter is a creation by João de Brito and Nuno Preto, «which starts from an idea of ​​love left by William Shakespeare, to put the audience in a place of provocation».

The Festival will also feature three shows by youth theater groups, which are part of ESTOJO – LAMA Teatro Pedagogical Laboratory, aimed at young people aged between 13 and 18 years.

Estojo is «a project that aims to promote critical thinking and thinking in young people, through the use of theatrical tools».
«Every year, and for a period of 3 to 5 months, the youth theater groups that make up ESTOJO work on the construction of a show, based on a common premise, launched by João de Brito. In this 1st edition, the ESTOJO program includes: Grupo de Leitores, with the show Loop; Panápaná, with the piece Spin & Shot; and Teatro Improviso de Intervenção, with Memórias de Bambaram». The three shows will be presented at the IPDJ Auditorium, in Faro.

In addition to the shows, the MOCHILA Festival will also tour the streets of Faro, with the performance Gang das Mochilas, coordinated by João de Brito, Sara Martins and Marta Gorgulho. On the 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th and 13th of November, this gang, made up of young interpreters, occupies the historic center of the city, downtown, the riverside area and the municipal schools.

Aimed at children and young people from 3 to 18 years old, the MOCHILA Festival «intends to be a space where, annually, critical thinking and reflection are promoted, through programming for children and youth, developed in close relationship with the public. target and with the local community, in a logic of decentralization”.

«In this first edition that is now taking place, the Festival starts from the clear/cloudy binomial and proposes to children and young people to fill their backpacks with clarity of movement, words, discernment, passion and thought, watching shows “clearly turbidities”, which incite questioning and debate”, concluded LAMA Teatro.
