The musician, poet and reciter Afonso Dias, with the association Modos e Olhares, joined ETIC_Algarve, and also the Municipal Council of Faro and to the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic.

"Born from the need to value a constitution, with almost half a century of existence, but also as a way to make known essential aspects of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, namely with regard to the precepts dedicated to Fundamental Rights and Duties" the project intends «to boost the behavior of a conscious and participative citizenship», explain the promoters.

The project «We are born to fly – 45 years of the Portuguese Constitution» is materialized in a collection of 36 videos, with 6/8 minutes, composed by the reading of part of an article of the Constitution, a poem and/or a song, interpreted by Afonso Dias.

Throughout the 36 episodes, which began to be published on Youtube on October 5th, the day of the Republic's Implementation, dozens of Articles of the Fundamental Law will be visited, also accompanied by dozens of poems and songs.

Afonso Dias confides that there were many reasons that led him to create this project, “among which, the circumstance of having voted in favor of our Major Law on April 2, 1976 as Constituent Deputy stands out”.

Another reason has to do with the cultural work to which he has always dedicated himself and which is intended, to a large extent, to serve the students of the Schools of all levels of education that he frequently visits. This work was distinguished by the Civil House of the President of the Republic.

Afonso Dias says he is still very concerned about the “indifference that is felt towards political life and which is expressed, painfully, by the ever greater abandonment of ballot boxes (abstention was worth 56% in the Algarve!! in the Municipalities…) and by the growth of the influence of populism, denial, manifestations of intolerance, trivialization of violence”.

ETIC_Algarve is the partner responsible for technical support, in terms of audio and video capture and editing, which involved students from the Sound course and a former student from the Video course.
