Two Algarvians called up to qualify for the U-17 European Women's Football Championship

The European Under-17 Championship will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina in March 2022

The Algarve athletes Lara Martins and Marta Gago, 15 years old and who currently represent Benfica, were called up for round 1 of qualifying for the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Football Championship to be played in November.

The players completed five stages of preparation for this qualifying phase, and are now part of the list of 20 athletes who will face, in the Algarve, Finland, Germany (current European champions) and Bosnia-Herzegovina, on the 8th, 11th and November 14th respectively.

Lara Martins was a player at the Associação Desportiva Geração de Gênios de Faro (until 2020) and Marta Gago from SC Olhanense (until 2021), having both represented the Algarve Football Association until they moved to Lisbon, where they signed a training contract with Benfica.

The European Under-17 Championship will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina in March 2022.
