The municipality of Castro Marim celebrated World Food Day this Saturday, October 16, at the Municipal Library, with an action from the “O Prato Certo” project, by Associação In Loco.
The new edition of the book was presented at the initiative and «several tricks and tips for tasty, simple and accessible recipes, inspired by the principles of Mediterranean food», explains the municipality of Castromarinense.
This action had the participation of the Head Abílio Guerreiro, “who taught how to prepare and make Mediterranean bifanas with vegetables, which were served at the participants' lunches”.
At the same time, there was a small market, with the sale of local and healthy food products, «with a view to valuing endogenous resources and short-circuit foodstuffs, encouraging local production and consumption», stresses the municipality.
This exhibition was attended by young entrepreneurs from Mercearia Bio “Meio Limão” and a local producer/trader from the parish of Pisa Barro.
“O Prato Certo” is a project that was born with the aim of helping people to make, in an informed way, food choices in their daily lives through tasty, healthy and economical food, which respects seasonality and local production.
This is one of the many initiatives that the municipality of Castro Marim has been developing in the areas of health, food re-education and the environment.
Others were, for example, the development of the sports programs “Põe-te em Forma” and “Ao Ritmo dos 60”, the 1st municipal program to Combat Obesity and the environmental program “Youth for the Environment”.
