A work accident at the Olhão Electric Substation, which resulted in a serious victim, also caused a general blackout throughout the municipality and also in the Culatra and Farol, on the barrier islands.
The incident at the EDP substation in Olhão, in Quelfes, next to the cemetery, occurred around 11:30 am and caused a serious injury. Following the accident, the entire municipality of Olhão and the nuclei of Culatra and Farol, belonging to the municipality of Faro, were left without light and with the mobile network very weak.
