12th edition of the Mediterranean Garden Fair received a «record audience» in Estoi

Initiative took place on 23 and 24 October

The 12th edition of the Mediterranean Gardens Autumn Fair, which took place for the first time in the renovated grounds of the Estoi Horse Fair, received a «record audience» of 3.226 visitors, and was cherished by all who visited it.

During the morning of Saturday, October 23, «buyers eager to see the wonderful variety of plants from more than 20 nurseries in Lisbon and Alentejo, as well as specialized local producers started to arrive», says the Associação de Plantas e Gardens in Mediterranean Climates, organizer of the initiative.

For the first time, the fair featured «three producers with a good variety of native plants and seeds available at the event»

Alongside the plant nurseries, «there was good quality craftsmanship, including stained glass for the garden, garden tools and the work of skilled botanical artists with original works of illustration such as cards».

Also present were aromatics and spices, organic soaps and cosmetics, plant carts, jewelry and clothing, all inspired by gardens and nature.

Some exhibitors, who were present for the first time and did not know what they were going to find, "were thrilled with the response of visitors to their productions and products", stresses the organization.

«It was also possible to celebrate the beginning of another year of gardening, see friends, shop for plants and enjoy a great day with radiant sunshine. We are very grateful to our generous sponsors of this event, including The Resident, Sementes de Portugal and the Parish Council of Conceição and Estoi».

This event “is held to highlight the wonderful work done by our expert nurseries and to raise funds for MGAP's work in promoting beautiful and sustainable gardens and landscapes”.

The association is already preparing the Spring Gardening Fair for 2022.
