A coastal cleaning action will be promoted by the municipality of Silves this Saturday morning, September 18, between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm, at the Pescadores beach in Armação de Pêra.
The initiative is part of the celebrations of the International Coastal Cleansing Day, promoted by the Oceano Azul Foundation, and has the support of the Armação de Pêra Fishermen's Association and Dive Spot.
The cleaning action will also integrate an underwater cleaning of the seabed.
The International Coastal Cleanup Day, created by the Ocean Conservancy, aims to “promote the protection of the oceans. It is noted in more than a hundred countries, bringing together thousands of volunteers in coastal cleaning all over the world every year», says the municipality of Silves.
«The local authority invites everyone to participate in this action, for the protection of the environment and the ocean, in this territory that is in the process of creating the Protected Marine Area of Community Interest / Natural Marine Park of Recife do Algarve – Pedra do Valado», he concludes.
