74-year-old man dies on the beach in Armação de Pêra after becoming inanimate in the water

The victim was detected inanimate in the water by lifeguards

A 74-year-old man died on the afternoon of Saturday, 25 September, "after allegedly feeling ill and becoming inanimate in the water", on Armação de Pêra beach, in the municipality of Silves.

According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the victim "was detected inanimate in the water by lifeguards, who carried out the rescue and immediately started resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of INEM elements, which continued the maneuvers."

Despite the efforts of the teams "it was not possible to reverse the situation", having "death was declared on the spot by the INEM doctor".

«The victim's body was then transported by the Silves Volunteer Fire Department to the Portimão morgue».

The local command of the Maritime Police of Portimão took care of the incident.
