Man arrested suspected of setting a forest fire in Loulé

Fire broke out on Sunday, August 29

A 50-year-old man, suspected of having started a forest fire, next to a house, in the parish of São Clemente, in Loulé, was arrested this Tuesday, August 31, by the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police.

The fire, which was set on Sunday, August 29, “was fought through the rapid intervention of the Loulé Volunteer Fire Brigade, which prevented the fire from spreading to homes and the adjacent forest area and from taking immeasurable dimensions, given the dry and the presence of an existing vegetation cover on the site», highlights the PJ.

The detainee will be present at the Judiciary Authority for the first judicial interrogation and for the application of coercive measures.
