Covid-19: Algarve registers one more death and 78 cases

Admissions dropped nationwide

There is one more death and 78 new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) has just released in its bulletin this Friday, 17 September. This is the same number of infections that the region had already been registered yesterday.

Across the country, 1023 more cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were reported in today's report.

The DGS reports seven more fatalities, having been registered in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (3), in the North (2), in the Center (1) and in the Algarve (1).

In 24 hours 1555 more people recovered (for a total of 1.007.911 recovered) and there was a decrease in active cases (-539) to 34.626 patients.

As for accumulated numbers, there have been in Portugal, since the beginning of the pandemic, 1.060.432 cases and 17.895 deaths from Covid-19 in Portugal.

Lisbon and Vale do Tejo is the region with the highest number of new cases registered (+374).

It is followed by the North (+372), the Center (+143), the Algarve (+78), the Alentejo (+37), Madeira (+13) and the Azores (+6).

Admissions continue to decline across the country (-23) and there are now a total of 474 people in need of hospital medical care due to the new coronavirus.

In intensive care, there is also a decrease of 6 people to a total of 97 patients.

The risk matrix has been updated and has good news – once again.

The incidence rate at the national level dropped to 173,6 cases of infection by Covid-19 per 100 inhabitants and to 177,9 cases, excluding the islands.

The R(t), the transmissibility index, decreased to 0,83, at national level, and to 0,82, taking into account only the mainland territory.
