The PS Algarve Federation and Socialist Women – Equality and Rights (MS-ID Algarve) have started to present their “Autarchic Commitment for Equality in Local Power” by the Algarve councils, starting this Friday, 17th September, in Tavira, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.
In the presentation of this commitment in Tavira, the current mayor and PS candidate for the Municipal Council, Ana Paula Martins, signed the document and highlighted the important role of women in local power: «we are in a position to continue to work immediately with efficiency and speed that these times require».
The mayor added that "it is with pleasure that I assume this commitment to this equality."
The “Autarchic Commitment to Equality in Local Power” was also assumed, on the same day, by Rosa Nunes and Luís Guilhermino, candidates for the PS for the presidency and vice-presidency of the Castro Marim City Council.
The initiative culminated in a riot in the streets of Altura with the socialist candidate for the Altura Parish Council, Carla Pires.
These presentations were attended by Edita Estrela, deputy and president of the Board of the National Political Commission of MS-ID, as well as Elza Pais, deputy and president of Socialist Women – Equality and Diretos.
On the night of Friday, September 17th, the rally for Equality also took place in Vila Real de Santo António, whose commitment was presented and assumed by Álvaro Araújo and Célia Paz, candidates for the PS to the Council and to the Municipal Assembly of this county .
The PS Algarve Federation and MS-ID Algarve will continue this journey towards equality in this last week of the campaign in Vila do Bispo, Portimão, Lagos and Silves.
