A concert by Tiago Bettencourt, tributes, the inauguration of a sculpture and the inauguration of the Sports Museum of União Desportiva Messinense. These are some of the initiatives with which Silves will celebrate, from this Thursday, 2nd of September, the Day of the Municipality.
The official ceremonies of the Municipality Day celebrate the conquest of the city which took place on September 3, 1189, when D. Sancho I was then King of Portugal.
The program begins at 17 pm on September 00, with the inauguration of the sculpture “Finitor Polaris”, in the Mini Golf Garden, in Armação de Pêra, followed by a tribute to medal-winning athletes in the county's parishes and parish unions.
The commemorations of the Municipality Day continue the following day with the inauguration of the Bust of “José da Silva Sequeira”, at 9:30 am, in front of the Alcantarilha Parish Council. The recognition and tribute to Maria Keil comes with the presentation of the book “Maria Keil,” by Mafalda Brito and Rui Pedro Lourenço, which takes place at 18:30 pm at Largo Conselheiro Magalhães de Barros, next to the artist's Panel.
At the Castle of Silves, in the Keep, at 21 pm, the inauguration of the Sónia Tomé Photography Exhibition “Faces and Voices of the Mountain: Guardians of Soil and Water” will take place, followed by a tribute to personalities from the municipality. The day's schedule will culminate with a concert by Tiago Bettencourt, at 00:22 pm, at the same venue.
On the 4th, the commemorations begin at 9:30 am, with the inauguration of the Toponymic Plate on Rua José da Ponte, next to the headquarters of the Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense in Silves. The ceremonies end at 12:00 with the inauguration of the Sports Museum of União Desportiva Messinense, in São Bartolomeu de Messines.
All activities comply with the norms of the General Directorate of Health, so there may be constraints on the number of participants in the initiatives.
