If Isilda Gomes «want to debate ideas, Rui André is available»

Carlos Gouveia Martins challenges PS to «debate ideas and stop personal attacks»

«If the mayor wants to debate ideas, Rui André is available. To debate people, you will have to debate with other candidates». This is the position of the PSD of Portimão, which announced this Friday, in a statement, that it wants to hold "multiple debates" between candidates for the City Council, Municipal Assembly and Parish Assemblies of Portimão, Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande. Social Democrats defend "five sessions of debate, because all bodies deserve the same relevance and importance."

The PSD from Portimo, in a statement signed by its president, Carlos Gouveia Martins, who is head of the list to the Municipal Assembly, defends that «the campaign cannot be simply summed up in large expenses, excessive in light of the economic reality of the clear majority of Portimonsians, to banal presentation of faces and names on billboards and very expensive public presentations", without making known "any idea or proposal for any candidacy", nor "the municipality's strategy for the next four years".

The Social Democrats also call for «not to forget the Parishes that lack debates of ideas», as well as to debate «the future that we want to give to the highest local body, the Municipal Assembly of Portimão, which has more and more responsibility for what Portimonsians must oversee and what political parties must debate and work together».

The president of the PSD/Portimão says he hopes “that Portimão makes efforts so that the heads-of-list to all local municipal bodies can demonstrate what separates them”. «I know that the PSD has ideas and proposals and that our way of talking about work and not people is what the city wants», adds Carlos G. Martins.

«On the part of the PSD and all its candidates, the attitude will be positive and the ideas, the proposals for the people of Porto, because only those who have nothing good to say about themselves and their project spend their time speaking ill of the others, as was done recently by the PS and its candidate for the Chamber Isilda Gomes, as well as by a minister of the PS Government», he stresses.

The leader of the oranges from Portimo concludes the statement challenging the PS to "a transversal political debate". «If the PS wants to debate all the parishes, the work of the executive and the party performance of the last four years of each party, I am available to debate anytime and anywhere with the leader of the PS of Portimão, Álvaro Bila, so that we can debate the ideas of each one and demonstrate to Portimão the clear difference between the dynamic and young PSD and this resigned and neglected PS», he concludes.
