Patrícia Mamona trains in Lagoa after winning a silver medal at the Olympic Games

Athlete was received at the Municipality of Lagoa

Patrícia Mamona, current silver medal at the Olympic Games and current European Champion in indoor track, is internship until this Monday, August 16th, in Lagoa, having been received by Luís Encarnação at the City Hall.

The athlete arrived in the municipality of Lagoa last Saturday accompanied by her coach, José Uva, to carry out the recovery plan for the Olympic Games and to start preparing for next year's Athletics Championships.

“The good conditions of the infrastructures once again weighed on the choice of the athlete, who, at this moment, is already working in the gym, but also complying with a preparation plan for synthetic and natural turf,” says the municipality in a note sent to the newsrooms.

Luís Encarnação, Mayor of Lagoa, insisted on receiving the athlete and her coach, this Monday, August 9th, at the council building, to congratulate them on winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games , to thank you for choosing Lagoa as an intern and to let you know about the intervention that the municipality will carry out on the athletics track at the Estádio da Bela Vista.

This intervention will consist of replacing it with a new one with the placement of ramps and stairs with synthetic flooring, “an innovative project as it is located inside the stadium, and because it does not currently exist in Portugal”, he adds.

«It is an enormous honor for us to have Patrícia Mamona, the current Olympic silver medalist, as an intern in Lagoa. It is a sign that the sports development strategy outlined by the current executive is bearing fruit and that Lagoa reinforces its status as a top sporting destination», considered Luís Encarnação, president of the Lagoa City Council.
