Budget of the Parish Union of Faro have 60 thousand euros

The installation of tiles and/or photovoltaic panels in the Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes Association, in Culatra, the restoration of the façade of the Church of São Francisco, the construction of a bust in honor of Padre Henrique and the construction of a padbol field were the projects winners of the 2021 Participatory Budget of the Parish Union of Faro.

The voting phase took place between the 5th of July and the 9th of August and was attended by 407 customers. This edition has foreseen an investment value of 60 thousand euros to be divided by the four projects.

The most voted proposal, with 181 votes, was proposal No. 3 "Energy Self-sufficiency in the buildings of the Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes Association" which aims to make these buildings self-sufficient in terms of energy, with exclusive use of a clean and renewable source, through the installation tile and/or photovoltaic panels, complemented with other energy efficiency measures.

This project is part of the objectives of “Culatra 2030 – Sustainable Energy Community”.

With 123 votes, proposal No. 1 “Recovery of the façade of the Church of S. Francisco”, which proposes a budget for works in this church to recover the main façade, which, explains União de Freguesias, “is in a poor state of conservation ». The Church of S. Francisco dates back to the late XNUMXth century and is a monument of public interest.

In third place was proposal number 2 “Bust in honor of Padre Henrique”, which aims to honor Monsignor Henrique Ferreira da Silva.

The local authority recalls that «Father Henrique, as he was popularly known, was a man of the city and a man of culture, open-minded, cherished by everyone and who helped, especially people from the most disadvantaged levels, having served Faro and the Farenses for more than 44 years».

Finally, the fourth most voted proposal was proposal No. 4, which aims at the "Construction of a padbol field", in a location to be defined, and which, according to the União de Freguesias de Faro, "fits the goals of promoting and diversifying sport among the population".

The União das Freguesias «thanks everyone for their participation, both in the proposal presentation phase and in the voting phase, for being present in this exercise of participatory citizenship».
