Lagoa offers vouchers for the purchase of school supplies to students in the municipality

Municipality reinforced support for students from Lagos

The Câmara de Lagoa will reinforce the support given to the municipality's students by offering vouchers of 25 euros to each student in the 2nd and 3rd cycles and secondary education in the municipality's schools, to support them in the purchase of school material, as well as through the purchase and distribution of notebooks to 1st cycle students.

In the first case, the measure, launched this year for the first time, aims to help not only students and their families, but also local businesses, since vouchers can only be redeemed in some stores.

The participating establishments are: Papelada and Companhia (Lagoa), Cantinho da Vila Estômbar (Estômbar), Cantinho da Vila Parchal (Coviran do Parchal), Tudoffice (Parchal), A Loja do Investidor (Parchal) and Papelaria Reis (Ferragudo).

Vouchers will be delivered at the beginning of the school year with the collaboration of the School Groups and may be redeemed until December 31st.

The purchase of notebooks for all 1st cycle students, on the other hand, to be distributed free of charge to students, aims to avoid “that guardians have to purchase them, and they will be reimbursed later”.

"The booklets will be purchased taking into account the books adopted by each of the Groups of the public network, and both the material and the booklets will reach each of the schools at the beginning of the school year", according to the Câmara de Lagoa.

However, as in previous years, the municipality will offer school material to students from the public network of pre-school and 1st cycle, as well as school transport to all students from pre-school to the 3rd cycle, but also those of secondary education residing in the county and studying at the Padre António Martins de Oliveira Secondary School and student-athletes who are part of the UAARE project – High Performance Support Unit, even if they reside in neighboring counties.

«Given the current context and the difficulties that the families of Lagos are going through, we consider it very important to reinforce the support to our and our students, extending it to the 2nd cycle, 3rd cycle and secondary education. We are aware that measures like this make all the difference in the lives of Lagoa families», believes Luís Encarnação, president of the Lagoa Chamber.
