ETIC_Algarve short film nominated for two film festivals

These two appointments are seen «with great pride» by Nuno Ribeiro, director of ETIC_Algarve

The fiction short film “Sombra”, directed by the 19|21 Direction, Film and TV group of the ETIC_Algarve school, was nominated for the “Gardunha Fest” Film Festivals and for the Lisbon International Horror Film Festival “Motelx ”

This thriller was conceived and produced by the trainees, as part of the Audiovisual Project module, and is one of the final projects of the two-year course, under the guidance of trainers José Jesus, Andreia Silva and David Badalo.

As ETIC_Algarve explains, «this short film, which we can consider terror, intends to demonstrate the impact that domestic violence has on victims, where actions dominated by fear, the result of the aggressor's constant abuse, provoke traumas that last beyond the aggression phase. , influencing in a traumatic way not only the people around them who try to help, but above all the victims themselves».

Under the guidance of trainer José Jesus and with the contribution of trainers Andreia Silva, David Badalo and Ricardo Flôxo, the short features the presence of Algarve actors Ana Beatriz, João Regala, João de Brito and Suas Avtayev and support for the Algarve production Biomedical Center (ABC).

These two appointments are seen «with great pride» by Nuno Ribeiro, director of ETIC_Algarve, because «reflect the serious, creative and interventionist work that we have been developing not only with the adaptation of the course curricula to the demands of the contemporary market, but also with the constant investment in the modernization of equipment in order to guarantee our community the best conditions to take their creativity to high levels».

The nomination for MOTELX was made from among 80 candidates and the short film is also part of the list of 12 finalists for the MOTELX Award – Best Portuguese Horror Short. This festival promotes the best of national and international terror and will take place between the 7th and 13th of September, in Lisbon.

The nomination for the Gardunha Fest – Short Film Festival falls under the “National Category”, in an edition whose theme is the “Paranormal”. This festival will take place between the 27th and 29th of August, in Fundão. The short films in the competition will be publicly presented on the 28th of August and the winners of the three categories in the competition will be announced on the 29th.
