Former Rector of UAlg expresses support for João Marques' candidacy for the Chamber of Faro

João Guerreiro, former rector of the University of Algarve and current president of the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), is the general representative of the Socialist Party's candidacy to the municipal bodies of Faro, which has João Marques as the head of the list for the City Council.

the council of Faro Last Friday, the PS handed over the candidate lists to local authorities for the elections taking place on 26 September.

In the other municipal bodies, Luís Coelho is the head of the list for the Municipal Assembly, while Carlos Gordinho (União de Freguesias de Faro – Sé and S. Pedro), Fernando Ferradeira (Montenegro), José Jerónimo (Union of Parishes of Conceição and Estoi) and Eduardo Sousa (Santa Bárbara de Nexe).

For João Guerreiro, “in the local government, there must be alternation, people, when they remain in the same positions of responsibility for many years, begin to have a type of behavior that is not the best with regard to the functions they perform and the work that they have to develop”.

“The alternation, the young team and the convergence with local issues are the three basic points that make me assert myself as the representative of this list”, he added.

João Marques showed his gratitude to João Guerreiro, for accepting the invitation as General Mandate, and highlighted that "working with the Farenses will always be the priority, with the permanent objective of reaching a level of excellence in the quality of life of all", leaving promise to make known to the Farenses, in the coming days, some of the commitments that will be assumed by the candidacy.
