The Serra de São Brás de Alportel Fair will mark its 30th anniversary with an online edition, from 29 July to 1 August, in which essential ingredients such as handicraft, gastronomy and entertainment will not be lacking.

This alternative format is motivated, as in the previous edition, by the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Algarvian mountain range, inspiring and the starting point for the Fair, is «a true monument of the natural essence, resilience, renewal and rebirth that mark this unique period of our lives», says the São Brás municipality in a note sent to the editorial offices. .

The organizing committee of the Serra de São Brás de Alportel Fair then created an alternative program, especially streamlined for the digital, which seeks to «keep alive the flame and essence of this event that so nourishes the spirit of São Brasenses».

The program will start this Thursday, July 29th, at 19 pm, the day on which the news that producers and artisans have prepared for this edition will be launched and which are available through the Feira da Serra online catalog, which will allow the acquisition of and ordering these products.

This will be a symbolically marked moment in the outer space of the São Brás Cineteatro, on Avenida da Liberdade, with the inauguration of an artistic installation in homage to this event.

Pandemic contingencies led to changes in the initial program of this edition, with the show “Dançando nos Passos de Bernardo”, scheduled for Friday, 30 July, having been postponed, with a new date to be announced soon.

This show, created by São Brasenses artists and integrated in the Bezaranha cultural program, will count on the participation of 16 Algarve municipalities and is financed by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Plan.

São Brás de Alportel participates in Bezaranha with two shows created by local artists and, therefore, it was natural to decide to rebroadcast the show “Sons de São Brás” on the social networks of the County and Sierra Fair, on the 30th, at 21 pm.

Over the last 30 years, along with gastronomy and entertainment, handicrafts have also been one of the pillars of this event.

The exhibition “Arte Entrançada”, with works under contract by Maria João Gomes, will be on display at the Museu do Traje. Its inauguration will take place this Saturday, the 31st of July, at 18 pm, with entrances controlled in accordance with the safety rules of the General Directorate of Health.

At 19 pm, attention turns to the social networks of the County in which the commemorative program “Feira da Serra: 30 years of innovating tradition” will be broadcast live.

This will be «a television-style program, broadcast live from the Museu do Traje, the venue for the first editions of this event. A moment to pay tribute to the roots of Feira da Serra and to open doors to new projects that have been born, as a result of the resilience and entrepreneurship of local artisans and producers», adds the municipality.

The program will have some guests, in a get-together with moments of gastronomy, without missing musical moments.

The last day of this edition of the Serra de São Brás de Alportel fair, Sunday, August 1st, will be marked with the transmission of the fashion show “São Brás Fashion”, which this year exchanged the fair's catwalk and for 50 stores in the county to “make known the best that exists in local commerce”, concludes the municipality.
