“To end up in beauty (or maybe not)” there's nothing better than going up to Monte da Lameira, in Monchique, to watch a special show of “Nites do Medronho”. This show by Lavrar o Mar has already premiered and another one – “As Mulheres da Serra” will follow to (re)discover the stories of this saga.

Giacomo Scalisi is the great mentor of this initiative, which started in 2017 and which has always had new shows. Now, four years later, a special moment has arrived.

«In the end, this will be a last act. The idea is to present all texts, from all years, in a row. It's a story from start to finish. People who, for some reason, haven't seen an episode – or others who haven't seen anything – may have one last chance,” he explained to Sul Informação.

Thus, since yesterday, it has been possible to know the whole story involving four characters and two enemy families: the Monteiro and the Capote, in the show “To end in beauty (or maybe not)”.

In this “last act”, there will be, in addition to the replacement of the previous shows, an “unpublished text that we have not yet seen”, written by Sandro William Junqueira.

“We will discover that these Monteiro and Capote families are very interested in an estate that their father Monteiro has to leave to his children. As always, it's a question of power and money,” said Giacomo Scalisi.

The show, which always has sessions at 19:30 pm and will take place, this time, outdoors, premiered this Friday, the 2nd, and has four more screenings: this Saturday and on the 9th and 10th.

On the 9th, there will be a special moment: the writer Sandro William Junqueira will present his new book “A Sagrada Família”.

The other writer who is part of this Medronho saga is Afonso Cruz. The show “Mulheres da Serra”, with texts by this author, will take place from the 16th, in Marmelete, and will also be the last of this series that is part of the “Medronho” saga.

«Our logic is the same: we are going to present all the shows, meeting Leonor Cabral, Inês Rosado, Sofia Moura and Marta Gorgulho: the four women of the mountains».

In this case, the story of Carlos the bear will be presented, «of some women in the mountains who talk about men, the bear's friend… We are always discovering more of these characters», Giacomo Scalisi's perspective.

The show will take place on the 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th of July, from 19:30 pm, at Casa do Medronho, in Marmelete. In both shows – both in this one and in that of Sandro William Junqueira -, there will be the participation of a group of musicians.

In Monchique, it will be “La Miseria Deluxe” and, in Marmelete, a group that is being formed by musician Remi Gallet.

But is this really the end of the “Medronho” saga?

«I think that, maybe, in this format it will really be the last act. This issue of the medronho does not end here because it is an unavoidable subject… It is part of this territory. Our connection with the territories is very important and fundamental. I think I will find another way to talk about this drink, this process», concluded Giacomo Scalisi.

For now, if you want to buy tickets to watch these marathons, you can do so here
