Mariana Penajoia, 18 years old, from Faro, was National Champion in individual trampoline this weekend and national vice-champion in Double Minitrampoline, in the competition that took place in Viana do Castelo.

born and raised in Faro, Mariana Penajoia has been in Lisbon since last October, studying at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. Currently represents Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

On the first day of the National Base Trampolines Championship, on the 3rd of July, the gymnast performed the double mini-trampoline event, where she reached the 2nd place among the 29 participating gymnasts.

On Sunday, the 4th, the gymnast reached the 1st place in individual trampoline (this being an Olympic modality) among 27 gymnasts of the same level.

The competition, promoted by the Gymnastics Federation of Portugal, was attended by 49 clubs and a hundred gymnasts of various age groups.

This test results from the previous selection of gymnasts who participated in the territorial championships (where Mariana also reached the 1st and 2nd places, respectively, in the different apparatus) and who, fulfilling the quotas and depending on the score achieved, are qualified for the National Championship.
