AMAL raises awareness of fire prevention with radio spots in the Algarve

The initiative is complemented by awareness-raising actions in the region's municipalities

The Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL), in order to make the population aware of the risk behaviors to have in preventing fires, is betting, until the end of August, in spots in order to share useful information through radio stations in the region, as well as awareness-raising actions in municipalities in the Algarve region.

The announcements, recorded in Portuguese, English and French, are already airing on the radio in the Algarve.

These advertisements have, as a backdrop, «professional practices and leisure activities and both recall requirements in the use of agricultural machinery, as they give guidance to those who will use fire in food preparation», says the press release sent by AMAL to the newsrooms. .

The initiative is complemented by awareness-raising actions that have the involvement of AMAL, and will pass through the municipalities of Monchique, Loulé, Tavira and Castro Marim.

These actions are part of the cross-border project “CILIFO – Iberian Research Center” and “Fight against Forest Fires”.

The objective of CILIFO is “to establish itself as a permanent center for the development and promotion of training, awareness, research and cooperation in fighting fires”.

AMAL has, since 2018, and financed by the Permanent Forest Fund, a Forestry Technical Office which monitors, collaborates and promotes various regional and intermunicipal projects and candidacies for the defense of forests and the rural environment, highlighting «the importance that the Intermunicipal Communities (CIM) have come to have within the system, clearly aiming at strengthening of its influence and of its operationality in the promotion of policies of a regional nature in the area of ​​defense of forests and the rural environment”, he concludes.
