Class C of the 10th year, from the Science and Technology course at Pinheiro e Rosa Secondary School, in Faro, won the contest “Circular Seas”, by the Coca-Cola Foundation, with a video in which it encourages waste reduction.

Under the coordination of teacher Isabel Nascimento, the students presented a project with the theme “Reduces waste, protects the sea, promotes the circular economy”, which won 1st prize in the category of secondary schools/vocational education.

The video aims to promote the reduction of marine litter and encourage the circular economy in society, with a view to reducing waste. As part of the project, the group also carried out a cleaning action on the beach in Faro, on the 12th of May.

“Circular Seas” is an Iberian initiative launched in 2018 by the Coca-Cola Foundation, as part of its sustainability strategy, which encourages the circular economy, environmental awareness and training for waste management and the promotion of active citizenship at the level of volunteering.

The three main objectives are cleaning up waste from the coastal area, seabed and aquatic environments. This initiative already has several partner entities, with the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) being the entity that coordinates its implementation in Portugal.
