Júlio Antão's “Land” is exhibited in Albufeira

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm and between 13:30 pm and 17:30 pm

The exhibition “Terra” by the artist Júlio Antão from Algarve has been on display since today, July 1st, at the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery, in Albufeira, and can be visited until the 28th.

The exhibition was prepared during the pandemic and “evokes the disastrous effects of human action on the planet”.

According to the catalogue, there is "a disturbing scenario about the tragic life of our planet" and as quickly "unsettles" the "emotional state" of the visitor, as soon as it "opens a glimmer of hope for humanity".

 

 

Júlio Antão was born in Albufeira and, in addition to painting and sculpture, he explores other aspects of art, such as ceramics, photography, equipment design, interiors and advertising.

He is a founding member and President of PAS – Peace and Art Society (Portugal) and an honorary member of the Gogyoshi Art Project International (Netherlands) as well as executive co-curator of the GAPI exhibitions in Portugal and Spain.

He is also honorary chairman of the Art Committee of the International Culture & Arts Federation (South Korea) and an Honorary member of the Nigde Fine Arts Association (Turkey), having also been a member of ArtNations (Germany).

In recent years, he has exhibited his work in several countries such as Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Belgium, Netherlands, Macedonia, England, Iran, Republic of Korea, Turkey, Mexico, Peru and Cuba. The various awards in the field of painting, sculpture and photography should be highlighted in his career, with his work represented in various collections, public and private, national and international.

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm and between 13:30 pm and 17:30 pm.
