VRSA already has a Local Support Center for Integration of Migrants

The CLAIM of Vila Real de Santo António is open at the main building of the City Council, from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 15:00 pm

Vila Real de Santo António has, since this Tuesday, 2 July, a Local Support Center for the Integration of Migrants (CLAIM).

Located in the Paços do Concelho building, the office's mission is to support the entire process of welcoming and integrating migrants, articulating their activity with the various local structures and promoting interculturality at a local level.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Integration and Migration Cláudia Pereira, the Mayor of VRSA Luís Romão and the member of the Board of Directors of the High Commission for Migration José Reis.

CLAIM is a service provided by the Municipality's Division of Social Development and Human Resources that results from a protocol signed with the High Commission for Migration, IP. It will provide support and general information in areas such as regularization, nationality, family reunification, housing, voluntary return, work, health, education, among other issues.

For the Mayor of VRSA, Luís Romão, «this center will play an important role in the lives of migrants who work in Vila Real de Santo António and are already part of the community, constituting a facilitator of their integration process».

For the Secretary of State for Integration and Migration, «CLAIM of Vila Real de Santo António is already 119th center in the country, now working in a network with the National Center for Support to the Integration of Migrants (CNAIM) of the Algarve» .

As an example, Cláudia Pereira referred that «the various CLAIM in the country have already provided, since 2003, more than one million assistances, with the mission of removing all obstacles to the full integration of migrants».

The High Commission for Migration (ACM, IP) is a public institute whose mission is to collaborate in the definition, implementation and evaluation of public, transversal and sectoral policies on migration, relevant to attracting migrants in national, international and Portuguese-speaking, for the integration of immigrants and ethnic groups, in particular Gypsy communities, and for the management and appreciation of the diversity between cultures, ethnicities and religions.

The CLAIM of Vila Real de Santo António is open in the main building of the City Council, from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 15:00 pm, next to the public service area.
