Algarve Operational Program launches competition to support employment in the social sector

"The IPSS, associations and foundations, cooperatives, mutual associations, mercies and other entities of the social economy can participate in this competition."

The Algarve Operational Program launched a new call for €2,2 millions, to support job creation in the social sector. Applications are open until 24 September. 

This competition comes within the scope of the support system for employment and entrepreneurship +CO3SO – Employment, with a view to promoting the creation of employment in social economy entities”, says the Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR).

+CO3SO Employment is a support system for employment and entrepreneurship, established by the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, which supports the creation of companies and jobs, aiming at Social Entrepreneurship modality, the implementation of social entrepreneurship projects that create social value.

This competition "can compete for IPSS, associations and foundations, cooperatives, mutual associations, mercies and other social economy entities that have projects to reinforce valences or new responses in the social and health and well-being areas", explains the CCDR of the Algarve.

«In the current context of pandemic crisis, and in articulation with the Social Security Institute and the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), job creation projects arising from the continuity of projects supported under the Support measure will be considered a priority. to the Strengthening of Emergency Social and Health Facilities (MAREES), and provide for the hiring of unemployed people who have been involved in socially necessary work activities under the aforementioned measure», he adds.

With an endowment of 2,2 million euros, 80% of which comes from the European Social Fund (ESF) and 20% from the Social Security Budget, the funding will be granted in the form of a non-refundable grant and will cover, for 12 months, remuneration and contributory expenses of employers, plus 40% for other costs associated with the creation of permanent jobs.

According to the regulation, each employer can benefit from a maximum of 200 thousand euros from the European fund.

“The expected impact of this measure is expected to translate into more than 120 new permanent jobs,” says the CCDR.

Even so, projects that include investments arising from the fulfillment of obligations provided for in agreements, concession contracts or association with the State (Central or Local Administration) are not eligible.
