Youth Hostels reopen to the public today, after months closed due to the pandemic. Of the 42 units of this accommodation network, spread across the country, only Almograve, in the municipality of Odemira, and two units located in the city of Lisbon will remain closed.

According to Movijovem, the entity that manages the Portuguese Youth Hostels, these units return «guaranteeing the trust and security they always have and «keeping firm those that were the assumptions that led to the attribution, in 2020, of the Pousada de Juventude Segura seal by the Directorate- General of Health'.

"In this resumption of activity, the new visual identity of the Youth Hostels will also be launched, which will be present in all units and which represents a refresh of the image and positioning of the network, which will be gradually implemented in all 42 units", added the same entity.

In the Algarve, there are six Youth Hostels, those in Arrifana-Aljezur, Lagos, Portimão, Faro, Tavira and Alcoutim, which will all reopen.

In Baixo Alentejo, as of today, the Youth Hostel of Beja will only return to work.

As for the inns that will not reopen for the time being, «they continue to be essential in supporting local and civil protection authorities, a support that will be maintained as long as necessary, given the commitment of the Youth Hostels with the country and with the current health needs'.
