The inauguration of the José Marcelino Dias Leisure Park, in front of the António João Eusébio school, in Moncarapacho, was one of the highlights of the Municipality of Olhão Day, which was celebrated last Wednesday, 16 June.
According to the Municipality of Olhão, this new equipment "provides the parish's population with a space to enjoy, which includes a garden, playground, outdoor gym, while creating a parking bag with 50 spaces."
As part of the City Day, before the solemn session, which took place in the Municipal Auditorium, there was also a visit to the redevelopment works of Jardim Pescador Olhanense which, guarantees the City Council, «will be concluded very soon».
In his speech during the municipal holiday, António Pina, mayor of Olhão, recalled the economic, social and loss of life losses caused by the pandemic crisis, which forced «the change of some priorities with regard to municipal management, with a substantial reinforcement of the social, logistical and financial support provided by the municipality to the population", which represented "an effort of more than 1 million euros since the beginning of the pandemic".
This “invisible work”, considers the mayor, “contained the social crisis and the numbers of the pandemic in the county”.
On the last City Day of this mandate, António Miguel Pina also took the opportunity to take stock of the work carried out over the past four years: «a work of which we can be proud, a work of negotiation and union, the result of which was the unanimous approval of more than 95% of the municipality's proposals”.
After, in the first term, «the debt was reduced by more than 13 million euros», the second term was, according to the mayor, dominated by investment «in education, social action, sport, the environment and in social housing, but also in infrastructure, such as sanitation and water supply, in the requalification of public space and the road network and in the creation and implementation of spatial planning tools».
