Monte Seco fulfills the dream of having water and basic sanitation

Investment was 1,2 million euros

The population of Monte Seco «made a dream come true» with the inauguration this Monday, 14th of June, of the water supply and basic sanitation, in this locality in the interior of the municipality of Loulé.

With a "sense of accomplishment", Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, explained the difficulties in carrying out these works by the contractor: "it is a work carried out over many kilometers of road and narrow paths, in difficult terrain, with a lot of stone».

In an investment of 1,2 million euros, more than 6 kilometers of a network of water supply pipelines and practically as much of a network of gravity collectors (sewage) were created to serve a population of more than 300 inhabitants. and that “it is prepared for the future”.

«The population here will increase because more and more people are looking to live in places like this one in our Algarve. It's a privilege to live in such a land that has communications, basic infrastructure, security, peace, good neighborhood, a welcoming culture», considered Vítor Aleixo, stressing the attractiveness of this place marked by rurality but, at the same time, close to the urban core of Loule.

On the other hand, and since this territory intersects with the biggest future project that is envisaged for the municipality of Loulé – the Aspirante Geoparque Algarvensis -, Vítor Aleixo believes that Monte Seco can also take advantage of the added value associated with this «aspiration» of Loulé, Silves and Albufeira.

"It is a very big opportunity for the development of this area, a sustainable development, different from what has happened in the world in recent decades", he said, pointing to the small-scale economy, small businesses and the consumption of local products as essential in this logic. which we intend to reinforce here, while geology (for example the Megalapiás of Varjota, right next to Monte Seco) will be an attraction for tourists in this area which is expected, within two years, to have the seal of UNESCO.

During this inauguration of the Monte Seco water and sewage system, Vítor Aleixo announced that the work in Clareanes (2,5 million euros) will soon be inaugurated, at a time when the contract for the contract is already in the public procurement phase. creation of basic sanitation in Cerro do Galo (1,3 million euros).
