Applications for the João de Deus National Literary Award run until 2 July

The jury is composed of João Pedro Mésseder, Violante Magalhães and Catherine Dumas

The application period for the João de Deus National Literary Prize, whose winner will win €10, runs until the 2nd of July.

This initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Silves, aims to honor the memory of the writer and educator born in São Bartolomeu de Messines, while distinguishing and promoting the literary creation of authors whose work has been published in Portuguese.

With biennial periodicity, the prize is aimed at authors over 18 years of age, national or foreign, residing in Portugal, who present a work edited in a book, in Portuguese, and whose first edition occurred in the two calendar years preceding the year in which the contest takes place.

This first edition, dedicated to poetry, will distinguish only one work in the competition and does not admit honorable mentions.

The jury is composed of João Pedro Mésseder (writer, researcher and professor of Portuguese higher education), Violante Magalhães (coordinating professor at the João de Deus School of Education, in Lisbon) and Catherine Dumas, professor emeritus of Portuguese language and literature at University of the Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3.
