Câmara de Portimão buys vacant houses to connect Largo do Dique to Rua Júdice Bicker

Municipal Assembly will still have to approve the proposal

The Portimão City Council recently unanimously approved the proposal to acquire a set of houses in the Largo do Dique and Jardim 1º de Dezembro area for 700 thousand euros, to create a road corridor that will connect that square to Rua Júdice Biker , in order to facilitate the flow of traffic in this crucial point of the city.

According to the municipality, "the main purpose is to facilitate road traffic in the area, allowing a new exit from the city to be created, as the set of properties has two fronts."

In turn, «with this change, those who enter Portimão can continue to circulate along Rua Direita, as is currently the case, or can use Rua Júdice Biker, which will once again be an entrance road, as it was several years ago».

With fronts for Largo do Dique and Largo 1º de Dezembro, the building in question is located in a consolidated area of the urban center of Portimão, close to the riverside area, and corresponds to a plot of land with an area of 1.018 square meters, presenting itself in a poor state of conservation.

The proposal will now be submitted to the Municipal Assembly of Portimão, which will decide on the authorization for the acquisition of the property in question, which will later be demolished so that a new street can be created there.
