An «initial fulminating and muscular attack», by the Fire Department of Portimão, pre-positioned in the Senhora do Verde Detachment, allowed a fire, which occurred this Saturday, June 12th, to be subdued in 20 minutes, in the Moinho area da Rocha, parish of Mexilhoeira Grande.
According to the Fire Department of Portimão, "the immediate projection of these two combat vehicles, a tank vehicle and the officer on duty at the operations responsible for this phase of the occurrence were crucial", leading to the fire domain "still at a stage initial'.
In parallel, the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Algarve «mobilized two more combat teams, from the Fire Departments of the adjacent municipalities (Monchique and Lagos), as well as the helicopter bomber and respective helitransported team that operates from the Center of Means Aereos (CMA) from Monchique, which were eventually demobilized while still in transit to the site, given the rapid control of the fire».
This occurrence also involved the National Republican Guard, which ensured a security perimeter and the investigation of the causes of the fire, as well as the “Point of Transit” unit of the Municipal Civil Protection Service.
In the theater of operations there were a total of 17 operational and 7 vehicles.
