Back to the Algarve: Ethan Hayter won at Fóia, Algarve João Rodrigues was second

Ethan Hayter (INEOS) won, this Thursday, the second stage of the Volta ao Algarve, at the height of Fóia, and is the new yellow jersey. The Algarve's João Rodrigues, from W52-FC Porto, was second.

British Hayter was the strongest of the quintet, who isolated himself in the final part of the race, beating João Rodrigues and Jonathan Lestra on the finish line.

The young Brit, with this victory, takes the lead in the overall ranking, succeeding (Deceuninck-QuickStep). João Rodrigues is second, with the same time.

But there was another Algarve in the top 10 of the stage that linked Sagres to Fóia: Amaro Antunes, also from W52-FC Porto, was ranked seventh.

The day was marked by the withdrawal of Rui Costa, from UAE Emirates, one of the candidates for victory, who fell.

This Friday, the third stage will turn on Faro to Tavira, in a distance of 203,1 kilometers. A disputed end to the sprint is expected.
