Return to the Algarve with Sailing returns in July

40 sailboats and 200 sailors are expected

The Volta ao Algarve à Vela will take place between the 1st and 3rd of July, with stops in Vila Real de Santo António, Faro, Albufeira and Lagos.

In this 28th edition of the race is expected "an extensive fleet of 40 sailboats in a total of 200 sailors", according to the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro which co-organises the Volta ao Algarve in Sailing with the Clube de Vela de Lagos, Marina de Lagos, Marina de Albufeira and Associação Naval do Guadiana.

The initiative, which has a new main sponsor, AOC – Revigres, will be “designed to respond to the new conditions imposed by the pandemic, with regard to the reception of sailors and the way in which all guests will be received, so that can enjoy this event in safety».

«Sailing is seen as an enthralling nautical sport, appreciated all over the world, and since the Algarve is a nautical people, we could not fail to have an initiative of this level, which aims to honor sailing at a national level and pay homage to the Algarve and its coast, as one of the best courses in the world for sailing», considered João Marques, president of the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro.

The competition is held with the support of the Algarve Tourism Region and the Chambers of Faro, Albufeira, Lagos and Vila Real de Santo António.
